Default Ground up axle build

Quick question guys, I've searched and I think I've got this more or less correct, but wanted to make sure. Per an axle build I'm doing https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/show...e-build-thread I've ran into the problem of sourcing a used housing/assy that is close enough to me to be worth while.

So, I've called my wholesale parts rep with Chrysler I deal with, and as it turns out my cost on a D44 front housing is around $850. This however will be the housing only. So I know I'll need the following, assuming I'm using my unit bearings/outer knuckles/brakes from my D30

-ball joints
-inner/outer axle shafts/U joints (will buy as assembly)
-Either full case locker or carrier/spider gears
-Gear set
-Gear O/H kit (do these typically come with the oil slinger?)
-axle shaft seals

What am I missing???

I'd add sleeves and gussets to the list! It's my understanding that the tubes and inner C's of a JK 44 are no stronger than those of a JK 30 so, if you are doing all the other work to it, beefing it up would be a good idea! Also, do the sleeves and gussets now before you install the axle under the Jeep, it will be a lot easier! (and a lot cheaper if you are paying someone else to weld!)

Your only options for a Rubi D44 for lockers are a Rubi locker or an ARB. No conventional locker will work. Definetely gusset the c and since it is a housing only sleeving it will be easy.

Well I'm going to be gusseting/sleeving/trussing, etc. But thats pretty self explanatory. And I had no idea your only options with the Ruby 44 were the OEM locker or ARB. I was thinking ox or Eaton.

Can anyone else confirm this?

Going with alloy? If you are going with stock, the 32sp outers from your d30 will transfer.

Yep, it's an oddball sized pumpkin. Stock rubi e-locker, 35spline arb WITH new 35spline shafts, or a 35spline ected WITH new 35spline shafts. The gentleman from Dynatrac indicated that there will be another option available in the near future that will use the stock 30spline rubi shafts, but no indication of what it is or when it will be available that I saw.

The rubi elocker is running right around $1200 all by itself, the ected may have some issues (read the lockers 101 for more info), so the arb + air + 35sp shafts is likely your best bet. Even though it will blow your budget all to hell.

Yeah I'll be going with alloy, possibly RCV's, but doubtful. I may go 35 spline depending on whether or not they'll interfere with the sleeves...And if they do I may do a home brew upper truss/lower clamshell/deflector on the outside of the housing.

Good info on the locker, the idea of getting this 44 housing is new for me, I was looking for a used one but oh well.

Thanks for the info.
