Default Hemi and Gears

I have a JK Unlimited Rubicon that I converted to the 5.7L Hemi motor. Prior to the Hemi swap I had 5.13 gears and 35" tires put on. The gears seem to steep when driving and off-roading. What do most Hemi swap guys with 35s run gear wise? I was thinking of swapping back to my 4.10s? Or is the better option to keep the 5.13s and go up to a 37" tire? The Jeep is not a daily driver. Any advice would be helpful.

The 545RFE Transmission you have does not really like big and heavy tires. Even the Hemi 5.7 pushing 37 in not really good.
Stick to 5.13 and go 37 you will be comfortable. Even with 35 i think you should stick to 5.13 if not go down 4.88

Simple solution bigger rubber.

Is that going to be cool though? Dana 44 with the added weight of the Hemi + 5:13's + 37" rubber??

I see you have D60s front and rear. Would the consensus be that the D44 is strong enough to take 5.13s, Hemi weight and 37" rubber or will my wallet need to be ready for D60s in the very near future?

I had a Hemi with 5:38s and 37s and thought is was geared just a shade low. Now with the 39.5s it is just right. It depends alot on the weight of your tires. I had BFG 37s (light) and now have Iroks 39.5s (heavy). Big drop in power rolling the heavier tires. My tire and wheel combo weighs over 140 apiece now :(

Thanks for the information. Looks like I will go the 37s route. Now to look for a local buyer for the 35s.

If you are looking for consensus on whether or not you have to run D60s with 37s (with or without a hemi), you might as well try solving for world peace first - it might be easier!

To paraphrase Dynatrac on a similar thread..."it all depends on your expectations". If you have reasonable expectations you can run 37s on a D44 with a hemi. I have since May of 2009. With 5.13s. No issues. Consensus? forgetaboutit!
