Default Big tires ... Bigger brakes needed?

Hey guys my brakes work fine with my 35 inch Micky
Thompsons. My left rear brake was worn out today no started making noises. I went to Goodyear and got raped. 159.99 with left rear rotor and they said 30 mins later my caliper seized so it was now 377 with discounts he said for me being military. Mn that's a lot I wonder if he is doing both rear sides with brake pads or just the left rear. Ill find out tommorow! This sucks. Heads up nd change your break pads before this happens to you!

How many miles do you have on your jeep, and how often do you wheel with hard use on your brakes?

I ask because I have 35K on my 08 Rubicon Unlimited, 37" tires, and wheel pretty hard at least once per month. I have not had a problem, still have some pad left, but have been thinking of an upgrade to HAWK LTS High Performance Brake Pads.

Regards,

Walker

Part of the reason I rotate my tires every oil change is to check the breaks, break pads are cheap and they take maybe 30 mins a side with minimal tools. At 50k with 35's (only had the 35's for about 19k) on the original pads in the front, just changed the rears at about 45k. The rears are smaller and wear faster.

I have the hawks and they're excellent brake pads. I also swapped out my rotors when I did the pads since they were reasonably inexpensive. Replaced the stockers with Centric and that combined with the Hawk's stops my jeep rather well with the 37's I'm running.

sent from my Gnex.

Thanks everyone for your input... I have 30k on my 08 2dr jk and it's auto. It has never been wheeled hard at all and my left pads wored down all the way and my right is used not gone . Fronts are good. Wtf is happening maybe it was a bad caliper? So if I change brake pads often I'll be good to go? Thanks this site is full of info
