Default Pavement Ends bumper glossy - how to dull it down?

My rear Pavement Ends bumper came in today and it is a little too glossy for my Jeep. I need to tone it down a bit but hate sanding on a new bumper. Do I have to sand it to scuff it up before spray painting and/or bedlining? Do you think flat black paint would work good enough to tone it down or do I need bedliner?

If it were me, I'd just scuff it with a scotchbright pad and then either spray it with rustoleum satin black or bedliner depending on whether or not I wanted some texture. Here are some pics of when I did my grill. Grill=bedliner Letters=satin black
