Default Suspension and OE Warranty

Hey guys,

I'm planning on getting a 5" Zone lift and was wondering how will it effect my warranty. Will my lift cause some of the factory parts to fail ? And not be covered under warranty ? For example my balljoints failed at 52k km and the cause was my 2" coil spacer lift and my 33x12.50 tires.

Thanks in advance

Same as always. Anything you replace isn't covered. Anything damaged by anything you replace isn't covered. So cases can be made to deny claims on the transfer case, axles, transmission, etc. Just depends on YOUR dealership. Spend some time reading through the sticky at the top of this modified area...

No it wasn't. The stock balljoints could easily be referred to as junk, and the lift/tires would simply be a convenient excuse.

what i would recommend is talking to the dealership that you plan on getting warranty work done and finding out from them what they will and won't cover and if anything that you do may void the warranty that you have. in the end, they are in control of what you can do and, are the ones that can flag your jeep and prevent it from ever getting any warranty work done in the future. this is a fact.

One strategy that will mitigate the chance a dealer voids your warranty is to buy the vehicle and lift from a Chrysler dealer that sells and installs them.... I can pretty much guarantee they won't void your warranty under those circumstances. I can think of two dealers in southern California that sells and installs lifts.

good luck ...

It really does depend on the dealership you go to. I had a bad heater fan in my 05 WK and they blamed the thing on my k&n intake. I took it down the road to a dealership that sells and installs aftermarket parts and they fixed it no problem. I don't know too many people with "stock" jeeps so I talked to the dealership about warranty stuff before I bought my '11 JK and they said just don't do anything too extreme ( basically bolt on parts are ok) and I'll be fine with my warranty.
