Default 16" w/ 33's same as 17" w/32's?

OK, so maybe this has been discussed before, but I couldn't find it on the search. I have a 2 dr. Rubicon. = 17" rims with 32" tires. My question is-- I really like the AEV bridger wheels, and I've always liked 33's I just think that size looks great on jeeps. So... I don't really want to lift it. Afraid of driveline issues in the future, etc. Would the 16" rims with 33's be equal to the stock 17" with 32's? The math seems about right, but wheels and tire can get tricky. Any thoughts on this?

The diameter of the tire is the diameter of the tire. 33's will be one inch more than 32's. And I'm running 33's with no problem, no lift. : )

Thanks for the answers guys. Any rubbing issues w/ the 33's? I know, probably not around town. I am talking about during major flex. Which this new Rubi with sway bar disco, is pretty darn flexible. ----- Also do you think I would need wheel spacers? I know AEV Bridger wheels are made specificaly for Jeeps, so maybe they are designed to not need spacers? (I noticed on their website, the TJ's and JK's have different backspacing.) Again, I really appreciate any input, so thanks in advance.

Also keep in mind since the 33" is the TOTAL O.D. you will only gain 1/2" in height, since the other half is on the other side of the tire at any given point...just to make things perfectly clear for you....

yep 33's are 33's no matter what wheel size you have. The only difference between 33's for 16" wheels and 33's for 17" wheels is the inside dimension of the tire where the wheel fits.

OK. i get it. The idiot newbie doesn't know what he's talking about. Thanks anyways guys. But seriously though, now that everyone has said it, I guess it is fairly obvious. Oh well. Just to save face however, this is not my first jeep, and I have been offroading for almost twenty years now. Got my first vehicle when I was 12. (a 79' subaru wagon) but still, it had 4wd. I have just never been in a financial stiuation to even consider big tires, and nice rims before. So, don't mind my obvious tire/rim questions. Thanks again for the info. everyone.

No, you shouldn't need spacers with the AEV wheels, as they should have the proper backspacing (although I didn't check before recklessly posting this info). As for rubbing, I believe they will rub without a lift if flexing. I had 33's on before my lift and around town I didn't have any issues. It was obvious that a lift would be needed when the wheels started bobbing up and down during articulation.
