Default Where to put my 60" Hi LIft Jack ....

Just wanting to know what people prefer as a mounting location for their jack? My wife got me a 60" Hi Lift jack but I'm having a hard time figuring out where to mount it? I like the hood mount but I think it will be difficult to remove if my wife were needing it in the future. Thanks!

60" is tough. I have my 48" mounted on the rear cage but yours is wider that the jeep. Do you need the 60 or could you exchange for a 48?

A 60" will fit just fine, I mounted mine across the base of the roll bar in the rear. There are holes you can tap for a mounting spot. I used some keyed alike stainless trailer hitch locks. A friend of mine is a machinist so I had him cut and thread them, then I put some firewall grommets between the metal so it doesn't vibrate. The jack will fit nice and snug minus the foot which you can throw in your gear bag. Theft resistant also. The only time it's been a hassle is when my wife wants to do her mass shopping, I just pull it out.Click image for larger version

Default Exterior mount

Does anyone have a picture of a 60'' mounted on the outside of the jeep? I was looking for a tailgate mount b/c IMO anywhere else is impractical

Duradak - I plan on doing the same setup since I have a 60" too (the hi-lift that is... )

Thing is, it appears you have a hard top. Do you have a soft top too? My concern is when I put the top down and where it rests. I'm pretty sure the hi-lift is going to be in the way. Not so much with where the top sits when its down, but more-so the support bars, etc. When it folds down, it might be held up from fully folding down.

Thoughts?

I have the soft top also (both tops), no issues. I stand corrected...be careful installing/removing the jack...if you're not paying attention you could scratch your plastic window or crack the glass window. I haven't done either but I have tapped the glass once, definitely got my attention.

My 60" is on the hood, and there is a way you can run a cable around the hood tie to make it theft resistant, but the jack is slightly heavy and my wife probably can't get it if she needed it either, but there's a small chance of screwing up your hood if you drop it or something. It rattles slightly, but that might be because I took my hood spring off.

Spare tire setup! Love my cheap solution.

And I screw a Wing Nut onto it to keep it secure. Hasn't rattled off yet. Slight rattle on my gravel driveway. No sound on Daily Driving. Painted it black with red handle.

How do you keep someone from stealing the HiLift? Also, since I only see 1 long bolt (unless I am missing it) how do you prevent the HiLift from swinging around like the hands on a clock?

I like the idea, just looking for some more insight...

Here's my 48" mount. I like it because of being out by myself alot and not wanting to drop it on the hood.
