Default Spare tire removal?

Hey everyone. What's the best way to remove the spare carrier? Do I cut the wires? Wondering if I'm missing something obvious.

Yep, there's a clip in the tailgate. On the inside, open the plastic grate and the clip is right there, pull the wire and rubber grommet on the outside out and there you go.

Yes, that's the way you do it. I just did it today. Man, the door is lighter.

I'm just searching now for a plate and some closed grommets to fill in the three holes.

It would be nice to lose the weight on the rear door.

But where do you then put the spare, inside the Jeep?

Or do you just run without a spare?
