Default Help needed for 3.5 Rubicon Express lift

Hey All,

I need some help and info with regards to my new lift kit ( Rubicon Express 3.5 )

I have sent my JK ( 2DR - Manual - Sahara ) to the jeep dealer to install the lift kit and they have come back to me with a problem after installing the lift kit.

They have informed me that i need a set coil spring spacers for the coils

I have asked various people is the true & all the replys i have got is to use the original coil spacers. They have also tried to use the original spacers and they have come back to me saying that its useless and i need to get a set of 2.5 Terafleax BB. I am still confused in this and need some help. The reason they say i need the spacers is because it will make the jeep safer to drive, they also said that if i dont install it the coil springs will pop out during off road or at hard bracking.

So is the true? I need help and some light on this

That doesn't sound right and you have some cause for concern! I apologize that I don't have direct experience with this kit, but the instructions seem pretty clear... rubiconexpress.com/Img/Products/Pn/9/3539/PDF/Instructions/0.pdf

I'd call RE for their input; perhaps they can provide your dealer some coaching.

Best of luck!

You should collect your toys and go find somewhere else to get your install done. It sound like the dealer dosen't know what he is talking about. If you got the Super Flex kit it comes with everything you need.

Exactlly my point

I explinaed to them that i dont need the spacers as i got the complete kit and these are the parts included:

Front Sway Bar Disconnect
Rear Sway Bar End Links
Front Coil Springs
Rear Coil Springs
Front and Rear Bumpstops
Front and Rear Extended Steel Braided Brake Lines
Front Track Bar
Rear Track Bar Bracket ( I Removed this part and got a FT rear adjust trck bar )
Lower Super-Flex™ Control Arms
Upper Super-Flex™ Front Adjustable Control Arms
Upper Rear Super-Flex™ Adjustable Control Arms

As for the shocks i went for the 9000XL Ranchos.

I have been on the phone with them ans tried to explain over and over again that i dont need the spacers and the kit is complete but they seem to think that i am off my head and have no clue what i am talking about

I am glad that i have got others who agree with me on this

I have looked at the PDF instal file from the RE site and there is no mention of installing coil spring spacers anywhere. I did also explain if i were to install 2.5 BB that would push my lift up to 6" in total of lift hight which would be crazy But they reckon it would be fine.

This is the reply:

We have tried fixing the orignal coil spring spacer but still there is gap &
need to try 2.5" budget boost spacer which come from teraflex to fix &
further inspection report after that.

Now i have asked Rubicon Express and they said that i will only need to use the original coil spring spacers.

The only reason i installed the kit at Jeep was to avoid loosing the warranty, now i am thinking i should have gone to some where else..

Im sorry to hear your dealer is such a dumb a$$!
You dont need coil spacers for a coil spring lift, you only use the stock rubber isolator pads that go on top of the coils, thats it.
They obviously dont know what the hell they are doing....unless for some reason they lost the RE coils LOL
If they cant figure that much out...depending on how far along they are with the install, I wouldnt pay them anything and tell them to put your Jeep back together!
Then take it somewhere else or do it yourself like I did....its not that hard!

Your rear shocks may be too long, which would allow the springs to unseat or pop out at full droop. Adding spacers would keep tension on the springs, perhaps that's what they're getting at.

I'd ask if the problem is that the shocks are too long, and would shorter rear shocks take care of what they're trying to fix?

RedRock i think you might be right, i think the shocks i got may be long. I got them sent with the kit from quadratec. So if this is the case that means i need to get another pair or shorter shocks.

Cause they kept telling me that its something to do with the shocks being longer now i dont know if this is the case but if this is, would this cause a problem? I mean could i use the JK till i get another set sent out to me?

Currie also offers rear coil spring retainers which might take care of the problem as well. Depends how long the shocks really are (you want to make sure they're not so long that they will bottom out before your bump stops).
