I'm sure this is on the forum somewhere but I've searched and feel like I'm going blind reading so many posts.

I like the stock Rubicon rims but want to up to 35's. I'll need to get a lift and I'm assuming wheel spacers from what I've read in other threads. My question is are the spacers safe and strong enough for offroad use? If so what are the best out there?

Does anyone out there have this setup with either stock fenders or the flat bushwacker fenders that can post pictures?

They are safe if you do the maintenance.

yes, yes, and yes. Have 35mtrs on stock rims. spacers are safe as long as they are the type that bolt on. I think spydertrax are one of the top brands. I think mine are rc, i forget

Mine are doing fine so far. I have the spidertrax 1.5" running 35s.

I've also heard that if you go 35 or larger you need to do the insert for the axel housing, any truth to this?

The only thing I have been told to do for my 2012 is get the teraflex exhaust spacers so you have clearance between the exhaust and the front drive shaft. Also, if your lift is 3" or higher then you also need to look at replacing your front drive shaft as the OEM has too much angle and will fail prematurely. Don't think you have to do it right away but would not want it to fail on the trail.

Other than that I have not heard of any other mods needed.

Concerning the front axle, I have heard it is considered one of the weaker points. That poeple have bent them just hitting a big pothole. I just got mine tubed and gussetted. If funds are an issue get the gussets first.
