Default MBRP Exhaust with Hushpower II Resonator

I had an aluminum MBRP cat-back exhaust installed on my jeep about a month ago and have been on the fence about whether or not I like it. It sounds awesome at idle, but can drone at low speeds and I found it particularly annoying if I was stop and go at slower speeds, but also heavily droning at 40-45mph. The other day after a home depot run I had the back window open and you could hear the sound from the exhaust quite a lot, and I thought it would be a little loud for rides with the top off.

So I paid the extra cash and got the Hushpower II installed. I haven't listened to it with the back window open yet, but over-all I think it is a big improvement. At idle is sounds the same, but on exceleration much of the the issues I experienced were cured. I can hear some slight drone from 0-20 mph, but the sound is similar to the noises an engine makes excellerating when in one gear to high. (When I had a stick)

Now I am pleased with my exhaust system. I can tell it's there, but it doesn't seem obnoxious. I definitely recommend installing a resonator to anyone who feels the same as I did.

I will try and record some sound clips when I have some time.

I have a set of Ripp headers and they recommend the hush power resonator and the MBRP cat-back. I installed both. I have zero drone. I have talked with others on this forum that are running the Ripp's too and a couple of them went without the hush power for a short time and had to install it later due to excessive rasp and drone. Everyone I have talked to is happy with the resonator.

The only complaint I have heard by one person is they think they lost a little bit of low end torque with the resonator installed. I would not know because I have had it since the beginning.

I have the SS MBRP Off-Road relocated exhaust (muffler under drive seat - not in stock locating). I have the exact same problem. Which model do you have? Where did you mount the hushpower? Agreed, the idle sound is awesome though.

Thanks!

You can mount the hushpower anywhere before the muffler. I have the non-offroad version.

I was thinking about installing the headers later on. I am actually pretty happy now with my set-up performance-wise.

Today my exhaust system passed the ultimate test...... My wife rode in the jeep for he first time since the installation, and she gave no mention of it at all!

Unfortunately, she still complains about the rough ride and getting in and out.

Those are the same tests I have to pass too!

Anyone running just the Hushpower w/ Ripp headers? I have an MBRP offroad cat-back on my 2 door, and there's not much distance between the new y-pipe and the MBRP muffler. I'm not sure the MBRP straight through muffler is doing a whole lot anymore anyway with the high flow cats on - I'm thinking about ditching the MBRP muffler entirely and just running the Hushpower.

There was a guy in a different thread talking about using the hushpower as a muffler. Let me see if I can find it. He had not installed it yet but was in the process. You could ask him how it sounds. I'm going to try and find it now.
