Default AEV Pintler and backspacing ???

Does anyone know if the 17X8.5 AEV Pinylers offer backspacing similar to putting 1.5" spacers on a stock Rubi wheel??

with the AEV Pintlers your wheel will stick out about 2.5" farther than stock wheels.

Stock wheels have 6.25" of backspacing
AEV has 4.7"

The difference is about 1.5"
add an extra inch for the diference in wheel width and you get 2.5"

if you are running stock 10" wide tires your total gain will be about 2" since the tire stays about the same width.

NO .... they appear to need spacers as the stock Rubi wheels

I had the AEV beadlock wheels with 37's. They fit really well under the stock fenders.http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/q...g?t=1242758036

Got My pintlers on and after measuring before and after with a level, the stock tires stick out 2" more then they do with stock 17x7.5's

as for backspacing, the pintlers are just about the same as using 1.5" Wheel spacers. A little less

The reason you need spacers is because the inside of wheels (rim+ tire) rubs so you need to move them outboard to accommodate wider tires/rims.

Backspacing is the distance from the inboard rim bead to the inside surface of the hub.

As discussed the stock backspacing is 6.25" and for the Pintlers it's 4.7". So the Pintler's have 1.55" less backspacing. That will provide you 0.05" more clearance the the stock rims with a 1.5" spacers.

Something else to note is that the Pintlers have positive offset (the hub mounting surface is outboard of the centerline) like the stock wheels.
Changing a to negative wheel offset (i.e. 10" wide wheels with less than 5" backspacing) can affect handling and loading.

There is a good diagram in the Modified FAQ that shows all of the wheel parameters.
