Default JKU Hard top hoist?

Can anyone recommend a particular brand and/or style of hoists for the JKU hard top? I have only had the jeep for a few days and my wife is about over having to assist with the install/removal of this top.

Also, I'm in a rental house and would rather not spend a fortune to install a particular lift when I may only be there for a few more months.

Any help/guidance would be appreciated.

I built my own. Many have on here as they are quite simple. Here is the thread that I used to design mine. You can get most of the parts at Menards the Depot or Lowes. I got the boat crank at Tractor Supply.

Here is the thread that I used to design mine:

This is a pretty simple solution as well:

Do you have a soft top? If not, get one, and you will not have the problem of taking off and putting on the hardtop alla time.

your biggest issue is going to be knowing what your setup is going to be going forward down the road you know. what your garage setup will be like etc. For now I would go get some motorcycle strap and some 2x4's to do a cheap $30 setup for now, its what I have done, there are tons of cheap DIY hard top hoist write ups in the Write Up's thread. I mainly say go this route cause you dont really want to invest a couple $100 into a true hardtop hoist system and then find yourself moving to a place where you cant use it.

Also I know you wanted to know a brand, I dont have one so I cant provide that advice, but I do know Lange seems to be a popular route to take if you dont want a DIY

Thanks for the info. I'll check out the DIY thread and plan on this weekend for a potential install.

I bought a hoist for my JKU on Ebay in 2010 from a vendor with the ID of lewmanj. He is still selling them on Ebay. I love the hoist, it is simple, affordable, very easy to install, could be easily relocated, and true, fast, one person operation.

Here is the link to his current auction.
