Default Rough Country Lift question.

My wife finally gave me the green light to upgrade to a suspension lift. Although not the price range i was hoping she said i could spend around $500.

I was looking at Rough Country and they have two JK lift kts for $499.95

One is a 3.5" kit that comes with fixed lower control arms and "Premium N2.0 series shocks."

The other is a 4" kit has no control arms but comes with "Premium Performance 2.2 series shocks"

Everything else in the kits is the same, except length of coil springs and shocks of course.

I am only trying to clear 35" tires.

What are the pros/cons of having fixed control arms and wider shocks, I'm assuming that 2.0 and 2.2 are the shock width in inches..

Any help/ explanations are greatly appreciated.

If 35's are what you are looking and not 37's and what to keep some drive ability without going into lots of money I'd find a 2.5 Budget Boost or a 2.5 coil system.
You probably will have to cut your rockrails if you have them and a good chance trimming you pinch seams as well.
I was more than happy with my JK 2.5 Tera Flex coil.
I found out later it drove better with front lower adj control arms and front adj trackbar.

The 2.5" TeraFlex budget boost is the most economical lift for the JK Wrangler. The budget boost is designed for JK owners who wish to lift their vehicle without many modifications. The budget boost will increase off-road performance. Several innovative features of the TeraFlex budget boost are found in the exclusive spring retention spacers that do not allow the spring to drop out during extreme articulation. The kit comes with spacers, bumpstops, rear trackbar bracket, rear swaybar links and brakeline ext. hardware. This kit will allow you to run up to a 35" tire (aftermarket wheels with 4.5" backspacing or less are required.) Fits all JK Wranglers including Rubicon and Unlimited.

X2 my wife doesnt have a say on my upgrades. Atleast not yet. But i also went with the rough country 4" x series lift. But if you are just looking to run 35"s you will be more than fine with the budget boost.

You gotta remember the "Man ToY Fund Motto"
What ever the expense is you take that total price and divide it by how many wheels are on your vehicle and tell them that price.

Thanks for all the replies, I'll have to remember that Man Toy Fund one haha,

I'm currently running a 2.5 BB with 35s. Basically what I want out of this kit is a better ride and the ability to go to 37s one day.

I'm mainly just curious to know the ride quality difference in the 2.0 vs 2.2 shocks and the pros or cons of having fixed lower control arms.

Thanks again for all your help.

I have the RC 4" lift and i added Daystar 1" 3/4 spacers and left on the factory 1/4" pads too. I run 37s with little to no rubbing and for an inexpensive lift it has held up pretty good.

I have the RC 3.5 with 35's. It is an amazing lift. The driveability is awesome, installation is a breeze. As I did my research it seemed like LCA's were a must when doing a lift. Good luck on your search!! Post pics when done!

Thanks Ranger, I just finished reading an article about the 2.0 shocks and it seems like they are a much better shock than the 2.2s. Thanks for the input!
