Default Wife wants a smooth riding shock. Suggestions please.

09, 2.5 tf bb, rubi shocks with extensions

What shock is going to give the smoothest ride that will fit the bb lift.
The jeep sees very little off roading so travel is not an issue.
Thanks in advance

Check out some OME shocks, not from 1st hand experience but have heard from numerous people that they love the ride...

With a budget boost, I had the best success with Bilstein shocks. I had a BB & Old Man Emu shocks on my previous JKU, but they were extremely harsh when I'd hit a speedbump in a parking lot, or a good rut off-road. They also did not help with body roll. I got rid of them and tried the Bilsteins, and they worked much better for me. Much smoother on and off-road, and less body roll and brake dive.

On my current JK, I'm still running the stock Rubicon shocks. I am planning to try Fox OEM shocks, but they're still not available yet in the exact part number I ordered.

I have a Teraflex 2.5 coil lift. I have the Bilstein 5100s.

I can tell you this:

The ride is much more "refined".
I still feel all of the bumps...if anything the ride is actually firmer, but you dont feel the harshness in the cabin. I also feel the steering response is better and body roll is more controlled.

I would just be careful calling them softer. If you have ever driven a BMW 3 series or car like that, its like you still feel the road, but when you hit things its more of a muffled thump rather than a whack.

this probably makes zero sense....nevermind...im dumb.

the 5100s are too rough for my tastes. i installed them with my lift and if the vehicle was a dd i would have pulled the shocks off within a week and had something else on. since its the weekend ride i just dont worry about it too much.

would suggest the Rancho s9000 .... 9 different settings, best of both worlds. well...... 9 actually
you should also look at what tire rating you are running for instance a c rated tire is going to soak up a lot more energy from those bumps. than per say a d rated or e rated . stiff as a board. correct me if im wrong..

I have run OME HD on 2 of my last 4 jeeps and love them. However, I am not sure how they would be with a BB.

My current rig, a 2008 JKU auto just got new coils and shocks both OME and my wife at first really liked the ride of the jeep and now with the new coils and shocks, LOVEs the jeep. I can't say anything wrong about OME. Solid product.
I hear good things about Rancho's too but never tried them and not sure I would...maybe...time will tell. Why try something else if you are doing great with what you have?

Rancho RS 9000XL's ride great too. They are adjustable so you can dial them in for softer or firmer. This is advantageous for towing/hauling as well since you would want a firmer setting for that. I love mine.
