Default TIre and rim size recommendations

I am tore right now between getting BFG KM2 33x12x15 or 285/75 r 16. The prices are about $200 apart from eachother. What are the pros and cons of bigger/smaller rims? I am not 100% set on this type of tire. It will be mostly for driving and weekend crawling. I do like the aggresive look though. So any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Pro of a smaller rim is you can air down and get more rubber on the trail. Con of a smaller irm is that they are bouncier when aired down, and have less precise handling.

Pro of the larger rim is that they handle better, but don't have as much rubber in contact with the trail.

Pro of the smaller rim is tires are cheaper.

Con of a 16" rim is limited selection of tires. Most offroad tires come for 15" or 17" rims. 16 not so popular with tire options.

I drive on a 17" rim, that's my preference, either one will work.

I am am looking to get the MB72's in black, and like you I can not decied between 15" and 17". My sticking point between the two is I want a "D" rated tire, because I feel you will be able to get more mileage out of them,(no proof) but the 15" tires are close to $100 less per tire, wheels are less and even if I got a 16" or 17", I doubt I would run over the C rated max air of 35 psi.

So, I think I just talked myself into the 15" and save close to $500 over the 17".
