Default Biggest BFG A/T on Stock Sahara 18's without lift?

Hello All,

Just picked up my 2008 2dr Sahara a couple weeks ago. Been lurking on this forum for a while.

I am looking to beef up the look of my jeep a little bit with some bigger tires. My Jeep is a lease so I dont want to do a lift at this time. I really like the look of the BF Goodrich AT tires. i would love my jeep to look similar to this one below:

(Fishit's Jeep pictured below not mine, I just like the look of it )

I know this guy has a lift and 305/60/18 on there and my jeep wont look like that. But I want a similar look without the lift. A little rubbing is not a big deal because honestly it will never see any serious off roading, if any at all. Im in Florida so I just use it for driving around town and on the beach occasionally. It wont ever be doing any serious off roading.

Im looking to do this mainly for looks. just want the jeep to have a more aggressive look to it without sacrificing much of the road drivability.

So what would you say the biggest BFG A/T I can fit on the stock 18 sahara rim would be?

Any help or pictures would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Try a 275/70R18. It will be slightly wider, but will be 33" in overall diameter. That's what I plan on doing w/ mine once the Bridgestones wear out. (As well as a 1" body lift )

BFG 285/65 18 are about 32.4 " and would work well thats one of the tires I am considering as well .

Not to hijack but Do you have to have spacers on the stock wheels to prevent rubbing or could you just adjust the steering stops?

I just installed 305 65 18's on a 2" FT with spidertrax 1I/2" spacers. You could install these on yours without a lift - but you'd need the spacers.

Wow really? So you are saying the 305/65/18 will fit on without a lift? I will only need 1 1/2" spacers? How will this affect the ride quality as compared to stock?

Thanks for the replies.

TyWebb:

Have you considered buying some smaller rims?
I took my 18's off and replaced them with 15 inch wheels and 33 inch tires. I didn't need to use any spacers or lift.

The total price for the 15" wheels and tires was cheaper than the price of ONLY the tires in 18".

Just something you might consider.

I have no rub with mild flexing either.

Thnaks for the suggestion oZmonkey. I really like the look of the 18's though. Can anyone please confirm that the 305/65/18 will fit on without a lift? How about 285/65/18? I would love to see some pictures if anyone has any.

Thanks!
