Frame or Body Mounted Rock Rails???
I'm looking to getting some rock rails. I'm trying to decide between a few different ones... my top choices being Purejeep (PJ) Rock Rails and Shockworks rails for my 2 door X.
So which type of mount is stronger?
Here is a Pic of the PJ's that I like I think they are body mounted
and Hides Pinch Seam.

Here is the pic of the Shockworks Rail that I like (Frame mounted
and doesn't hide pinch seam
)

- Frame Mounted
- Body Mounted
- Pinch Seam Mounted

its not where but how it mounts frame mount is inherantly strong but a 1/4" body slider isnt going to move either.
Any rock rail has to take the full weight of our jeep+++++ to account for dropping on a rock if it can't its no good.
I'm waiting on the PJ slider not the one you have pictured and i'll let you know soon

There definitely are a lot of benefits to going this route. Certainly, in addition to strength, they provide a hell of a lot more clearance than the other types. But, you will need to be willing to drill into your body.
I'm not ready to drill into my tub yet... only made 4 payments so far???
But how do those body tub mounted ones far as far as rust on the tub?
You just need to make sure to apply silicon all along the edges of the rails, let it dry (if you care if it sticks to the paint), install them and they will work great as a gasket to prevent mud and dirt from getting in between the body and rails (ultimately what causes damage to the paint can cause rust).

I have a set of frame mounted (Shrock) rock rails...they are higher than the bottom of the frame...so the frame's bottom is the low point...
So, how can a body mounted rock rail give more ground clearance...isn't the frame still the limiting factor?
I have a 2" BL though...and Shrock's rails curve up to the rocker panels, if it matters.
