will YJ stock bumper fit JK?
I like the look of the new military JK and was wondering if anybody has measured the stock YJ front bumper to see if it fits the front JK.
I haven't found anybody selling a similar bumper. Of course I would prefer to find a "free" bumper that isn't being used.
thanks

First of all, the JK is significantly wider than the YJ or TJ. 2nd, the way either of those bumpers would mount up is very different than the way a JK front bumper would mount up and so it wouldn't work without some modifications.
ThinkMud put a stock metal TJ bumper on his JK. Not sure if the YJ mounts the same or not, but look here.

Funny, I've beeen looking at doing the exact same thing. My old YJ bumper was just a few bolts to mount, and it seems that eight holes drilled in the front of the YJ bumper would get it on the JK. The one thing that I don't know is if the C-channel is big enough to go over the JK bumper mounts, or if there would be a lot of cutting. Also, don't the leaf spring shackles mount to the front bumper on the YJ? It seems like that would be more metal that has to be cut off.
I cut two sections out of one side of the c-channel YJ bumper and mounted it on my JK as a temp solution to allow me to flat tow. I needed a place to mount the tow bar brackets.
The YJ bumper inside width is 4" and requires a cut to fit over the mounting pads on the JK which are 5"+. Minor mod to a free YJ piece. Leaves some of the JK mounting pads sticking out. Not very clean looking. Also you can only use the top two holes on each side since th YJ is not wide enough to cover the bottom holes.
Another cheap option would be to buy a 5"+ c-channel (check the inside dims to ensure the radius does not interfere). Drill 8 holes and mount it up!
