265/75R16 tires on a Stock 16" steel wheel... No lift, No spacers. Anybody done this yet? ANY rubbing? I did a little searching with no results really...

(If only there were a 255/80 or 255/85 tire... )

I did it this weekend, same size.. stock X model.

Seems to rub a bit if I pull wheels all the way to the left...rubbing on the brake line part.. not sure what its called.. clears on the passenger side though.. might just have to move the line over an inch. I'm gonna try and post a pic

I've been running 265/75r16s on my stock X steelies for a couple months with no problems at all.

Also there are a few tire options in 255/85r16 you just have to search a little harder for them as they are somewhat less common.

Yeah, I found the BFG MT KMs in that size. I was really looking for AT's though... But, maybe I'll just bite the bullet and get the MT's... I'm sure if they don't work out, I can sell them.

It's been done alot, I've seen other threads about it...I've got that same size but not on the stock steelies. No rubbing here though.

I'm sorry... I really do appreciate you posting it again! I would love 285s. But i think 275 is the widest I can go with the Stock steel wheels (only 7 inches wide) (according to BFG's website). Unless, of course, I pick up some rims too.

I'm just going by 275 because that's what BFG says is the max for a 7 inch wide rim. I figure if they make the tire, they may know something we dont. God forbid something happens when i have a passenger in my jeep?! I'd be devastated!

I doubt anything bad would happen....I think the main issue would be uneven tire wear, like if the tire is too wide for the rim it would probably wear down the center of the tread quicker.
