Default Vivid Superchips questions. Tablet or phone?

I am on the edge about purchasing the Vivid Supperchip. I have the Droid 4 and I am wondering if Vivid Linq works just as well with the smart phone as it would with the tablet that can be purchased in the set.

I have found the set with the tablet for $479.00 on line and without the tablet $349.00.

I wouldn't mind saving a little change, but will the Vivid Linq be as good with my smart phone as the Vivid with tablet?

Thanks,
John

As long as it is a high end Android device running 2.2 or higher it will be fine. Obviously having the 4.3" screen on the tablet is nice, so having a phone with a similar sized screen is a bonus

I think my phone has about the same sized screen, perhaps a little smaller. I guess i am concerned about battery life. The phone is very poor in battery life. Is it okay to leave the phone on charge the whole time im driving?

Yes you can leave it charging. I have the Vivid with the tablet, and also on my Evo and it works great on both. Both have 4.3" screens

I am in the same situation as you. I was thinking tablet or no tablet. I decided I am going to order the vivid without the tablet. It doesn't make much sense since I have an android phone already. I have purchased a windshield mount for my phone so I can have a heads up display.
Just make sure your phone is on the list for proper devices on the superchips website and I would say no tablet.
My opinion of course.

I just tried to tune my 2010 with the vivid and the archos tablet. The tablet is weak. The touch screen is horrible. And it has errored out due to a data base issue. Not too pleased with it at this time. Waiting until monday to hear from customer the service folks at superchips. hope you have better luck with it then I have had.

I would definitely go with a third party tablet or phone. I like the Vivid a lot, and have gotten used to the Archos tablet but I'm currently looking to replace it. I keep looking at all the Droid stuff, and they all seem like an Apple product made in Albania. I guess at the $130 price tag it isn't bad, but there are definitely better small tablets without a whole lot of extra dollars.

I just installed the Vivid app on my Evo and it work MUCH better than the Archos. I will probably keep the Archos as a full time guage and data monitor, but all tuning will be done with my phone. I guess its nice having the app on 2 devices in case I need a backup...

Wow, I was not expecting that. I would have thought that using the dedicated tablet that came with the device would have been the prefered method. But hey, I am all for savings.

I think If I set up my phone, then I can still make phone calls with my bluetooth when I am in the Jeep. Or does the Vivid lock up your device?

Also, I coudl not find specifics, but can I calibrate my speedo for my 35s and can I turn off the TSPM light?
