Rear Driveshaft Needed on a 2012 2 door JK Rubi with 2.5-3.5" lift?
Greetings fellow Jeepsters
I have a 2012 2 door JK Rubi. Getting ready to start to map out the lift items I need. Plan to go with 35's, flat fenders, and 2.5-3.5" lift. Most likely going with brand: RK.
I know that with any lift beyond 2", Im looking at a new front driveshaft. What about the rear? At what point do I need to consider replacing that one as well?
Thanks in advance for your answers.

I'm no expert, but I believe its when you go above 3.5".
I went with a 2.5" and I can tell you that any JK lift you will need to do the front DS and reposition your evap skid over 2" to the driver side so you do not rip your boot off your rear DS.
The rear DS angle is not bad at all on my 2.5" lift. I can see getting another inch or so out of it, but anything over that I would personally not feel comfortable with the stocker.

Run the stockers. If/when you see grease coming out of the CV joints then you'll know you need to replace them.
Thanks all for your replies.
I still dont see a definitive answer. I got a "not sure" type answer as well as a "run stockers until they fail"
I want to be proactive, but dont want to buy a rear driveshaft unless its necessary.
Thanks in advance for more responses.

That's the thing, It's not NECESSARY until the stocker fails. No one here can tell you if and when it will happen. The higher the lift you have the higher the odds of failure. The harder you wheel the higher the odds of failure.
Yes, eventually you MAY need a new DS. Everything wears out, someday you'll need a new Alternator, Battery, Tires, and so on and so forth, But you do NOT need a new DS if you plan on keeping the lift below 3.5".
