Default Need a Diagnosis!

Recently had new wheels/ tires and BB installed. The shop forgot to switch over the TPMS so I had to take it back. Up to that point I had not had any problems. After taking it back............I have noticed that going over small or large bumps (pavement) I hear a 1 time knocking or bumping behind me and down low with most bumps. Makes me think it is the suspension/ tire/ wheel or who knows what. It occurs frequently but not with every bump. It also occurs at various speeds. I even thought maybe the lugs weren't tightened.......I tried to hand turn them and they seem tight. I even found that the metal exterior is weak and you can push the rear door handle in and out quickly and get the metal to pop and basically duplicate the sound. But that is an in and out motion and I think that just daily driving would not cause this to happen. I even rolled the rear window down in an attempt to stiffen the door up but the sound still occurs. This sound is rather annoying and I just don't know what it could be........any suggestions ?

My first thought is the clunk that most have that can usually be removed by adjusting the door striker but you said " down low " and my door clunk is not down low as per say

x2... Didn't even think of that. I had rancho shocks put into my explorer. The idiot who installed it cut off the stock shock mount and replaced it with a bolt. Made a thunk noise at the most awkward times.

Aren't the TMPS sensors attached to the valve stems inside the tires? If so, is it possible that one isn't tightened down and is clunking against the rim? If you push/pull on the valve stems, does it move much?

Very possible.......I'll have to check. The "down low" sound is really hard to pinpoint. May be a dumb question, but how do I adjust this or check it to know if this is the problem.

New shocks were installed........and they checked everything out the otherday and it all appeared to be tight. I'm not really sure about the shock mounts but these guys seem to know what they are doing....at leat I hope so.
