Default R.E. 4.5" Long Arm & Backspace

I have an Unlimited JK with the R.E. 4.5" long arm suspension, which is awesome by the way. I have a small problem with my wheels though. I bought the wheels and tires before I installed the lift and there is to much backspace . The tires are to close for comfort to the rear control arms. When I air down for off roading they rub the arms. The tires are 37x13.50x17 Xterrains on 17x9 Procomp wheels with a 4.75" backspace.

I need wheels with less backspace, but the only ones I can find cost a small fortune(Poison Spider, Walker Evans, & AEV. All nice but expensive.)

Does anyone know of some other options for wheels that would work for this set up? Looking for 3.5" - 4" backspace. Thanks!

Of course I'll have 5 slightly used 17X9 Procomp model 1079 polished w/ black rings for sale soon.

Hmmm....for about $50/rim...you could add a set of 1.5" Spacers to take you from 4.75" to 3.25" BS.

(Or thinner spacers if you need less room, etc...)

How much room DO you need BTW?

Default Backspacing

I had the same issue with AEV Pintler Beadlocks (4.75" BS), BFG KM2's in 37x12.50x17, and the RE 4-1/2" lift. My rear tires were touching the rear control arms and would not even rotate. The Spidertrax 1.5" spacers took care of the problem and are working great both on and off road.

Without buying new wheels it is definitely spacer time.

I think about 1" would do a lot of good.

Hey 2Stroke, do you ever need to retighten the spacers? I don't want to have to take the wheels off once a month to retighten.

Locktite is your friend....if properly torqued, typically, check at 500 miles or so, and if ok, then they're pretty good after that.

Default Spacers

I checked mine after the first 500 miles (still tight) and plan to check again at every tire rotation. My dad has had a set on his TJ now for over 40,000 miles and they have yet to come loose.

Good to know. I ordered the Spidertrax today from Redrock4x4, and they already shipped.
