Probably not critical but you'll likely notice a difference. Depending on what your expectations are and how you use your Jeep will answer the question for you. Personally I think the 4.10's I have are just adequate with the stock 255's.

I will have that very setup this afternoon or tomorrow depending on when UPS gets here. Put my lift on this weekend and just waiting on the tires to show up.

not all stockers are that size- my X came with "29's" effectively.

I'm running 33's with 3.73 and it's about perfect. but let's hear BaltChief or someone with actual experience.

I have an 08 with 3.21's and 33x12.50x17 mickey thompson MTZ's on stock wheels. Check my gallery for pics.

I have an airaid, chip and magna flow exhaust in the stock position. I see no need to regear. I can handle75 no problem in sixth as long as there is not a strong headwind or I am going up hill.even then I dont need to downshift or anything. around town it has more than enough power. I dont plan on regearing in fact i am getting around 17MPG with the setup I have so i will trade the slight performance loss for the fuel economy. hope this helps

I have been running 35x12.5x17 for about 2.5 weeks with 3.21's and it is not nearly as bad as I expected. I lost 6th and can only use 5th on the highway. Can still hit 80 if I push it a little.

Before the 35's I was running the stock Rubicon tires with 3.21's and it was very driveable. I would really put the tires on and try it out for a while. My guess is you won't mind it for everyday driving. You may have more of a need for 4l when off the pavement.

All that being said the day after I put the 35's on i ordered a set of 4.88's and am awaiting delivery (apparently Superior was out of the D30 4.88 and they should ship at the end of the week). All in all I will have about a month on the 3.21's and it is better than I thought.
