Just ran accross this.
9000 lb. T-Max $449, and it doesn't say "summit" on it.

T-Max winches have some really competitve specs, but only a 1 yr warrenty...as compared to a life time warrenty from Warn for example.
They save some money on the brakes, and a few other items here and there, but, overall, they look pretty damn good.
The EW-9000 has specs on line speed, even under load, that are on par with the Warn 9.5xp, which is Warn's fastest winch under load.
The amp use is about even too...the primary difference is more related to the T-Max's shorter line, so it only has 4 wraps instead of Warn's 5 wraps, and its 9k as opposed to 9.5K lb rating, .....and, at the 4th wrap, the Warn is pulling about 700 lb more than the T-Max, even though its only rated 500 lb higher.
The sale makes the T-Max half the price of the $800+ Warn though.
So - If it lasts longer than its 1 yr warrenty, say, HALF your life time, then it will be a better deal than the Warn's Life Time Warrenty. If you don't winch too often, a cheap winch can be a great investment.

I have the a re-branded T-max EW10000HD that is waiting on a winch mount plate from Harbor Frt.
I figured for the price I would just get the 10K rated unit and make sure I had enough muscle should I ever need it.
It is pretty hard to beat the price and value of these units and I should know I am an electric motor repairman. I am extremely please with the quality. I just could not resist taking it apart to get a look at the insides and it looks very well built.

You can go to ebay and see that same winch, rebranded for $360.00.
I have a rebranded one on my Rubi and have used it several times and it does the job. I'm very pleased with it. Besides it fit the budget.

i bought that winch from 4wd.com with the instant rebate. unfortunately it was damaged during shipping. t-max is sending me the parts to get it repaired. although i know a guy that uses his t-max a lot and has never had any problems with it. i have a buddy that thinks WARN is the only way to go. i hope this t-max will help prove him wrong.
