Tatton rear on a 2dr. Less than a year old driveshaft. Felt a little vibration while in 3rd and 4th gear on Sunday and then broke on Monday. Haven't wheeled in a week or two. Luckily it happened at about 5 mph on road.

Any idea why it might have failed like this? I had a 0-1 deg angle on the shaft with 4.5" lift. I do hammer on the Jeep... Not very gentle with it.

do you think you could have hit it the last time you wheeled. Was the broken end on the transfer case?

There's no way it could have hit anything. It was the end up by the tcase.

The shaft showed no signs of being hit anywhere excep for a scrape on the diff end from months ago.

I'm no expert, but I think its WTPOOI

Wheelin The Piss Out Of It.

Seriously though. Just fix her up and you should be good to go for another 693 posts. I would not be overly concerned since you say there is no visible damage and you have not hit anything. We had 2 guys in our Jeep club drop DS this past ride and they had them fixed up that evening with new joints. It happens.

Yup had it rebuilt and now it vibes. After it was rebuilt, it took a lot of weight to balance. Wasn't as quick of a fix as I hoped.
