Tuffy Conceal Carry Drawer "Set Back"
I was stoked when my Tuffy Conceal Carry Drawer arrived yesterday, but after installing it I was a little bothered by how forward it sits.
I say this because I am 6'2 so I always keep my seat slid as much to the rear as possible, which left it sitting a few inches forward from the edge of my seat. Sure, not a big issue, but on long drives I like to move around a bit and sometimes even put the heal of my left foot in this area. That and I have no doubt I'd bump into it a lot with my boots on.
I stopped by Tractor Supply today spent $2.50 on 2, 3 1/2" u-bolt plates and a couple 3/4" nuts and bolts. I had to take a drill to the u-bolt plate to open up the predrilled hole so that it would accommodate the seat bolt.
All and all, install took less than 15 minutes and my drawer now sits 3 1/2" further back, which I am very pleased with. Plus, it is now 100% out of view (not that it matters a whole lot).

I then installed it like you normally would, with one exception. After I took out the front seat bolts, I slid the tuffy box in from behind the seat. I tried to do it from the front, but I couldn't seem to get it by. The trick here is to angle it a bit as you do it, with the right foot being higher, towards the console.
Everything slipped into place relatively well. If I were to do it again I'd get the shortest bolts possible... I was limited by what tractor supply carried and I had at home. This would make it slide in easier.
On one of my prior photos, you can also see where I put a little piece of rubber to prevent any rubbing between my seat leg and the back edge of the box, but I don't anticipate this to be a problem.
