What step do you folks think is the best place to start in making my new Jeep more trail worthy?

Got a budget?

I'd go with some off road 32s if you don't want to lift. My buddy has a jeep like yours with 32" all terrains and it does great off road.

What kind of trails? Rocks, mud, sand.... Makes a difference as to where and how to start.

Great question, I haven't driven trails where I live now...I'm in coastal Maine so lots of rocks and we have a mud season

When I look at the factory tires they look pretty wimpy

I agree with skids first and then tires and maybe some kind of lift.
