Extended Warranty
I have an 09 with 34,000 miles on it. My bumper to bumper warranty is about to expire. Im debating whether or not to get the extended warranty or a new 3.5 RK long arm kit with the $. Also the jeep has the lifetime power train warranty now. Any advice would be great.
I would say that a suspension upgrade like that would void part of the warranty. I bought a extended B to B for my jku to go till it's paid off. After that i'll start modifying it then. Some guys don't worry about it, my luck i'll do something like that and the rearend will blow and i'd have to pay for it.
I paid $2500 for a 5yr/100k extended warranty that included gap. I am at 45k miles and have already had close to $1500 in repairs after the factory 36k mile warranty expired. I still have 3.5yrs/55k of warranty left, so IMO it was worth it!
I have a 09 also and My bumper to bumper warranty expired last month. But I lifted mine last May. The only thing I care about being covered is my engine an tran's. Anything else an I will fix it if it break's.

Im not to worried about the engine it self. I have the power train warranty. Ive had to have the intermediate steering shaft replaced once already. Things like that are what I'm worried about. It was at the dealership for three weeks. Otherwise I'm not sure if it's worth it. If I lift it that would void things like ball joints and tie rods anyway. Anyone with a lot of mods and a warranty have any issue with getting things fixed by the dealership? Also I'm gonna go through Chrysler if I get the ex warranty. Dad gets a discount.
Power train is where the expensive stuff is. I also have 09 currently sitting at 72,000. I plan to keep this Jeep a long time and the lifetime power train warranty is what sold me. I did not purchase an extended warranty.
There are some good options out there for a 3rd party warranty. Shop around and if you decide to do it go with a reputable company that won't be out of business next year.
