Default AFE says Programmer needed for exhaust...is it True?

So i searched and couldn't find anything related to my question. I'm looking at buying the AFE high tuck system just to add an aggressive sound to the jeep and the install directions mention on the bottom something about a programmer being needed and extra sensor bungs needing to be welded for specific programmers. Does anyone who has this system know if you can just bolt the exhaust up and change nothing else or do I NEED a tuner as is suggested by the install directions? Thanks for any input you can provide.

You can bolt it up and go. I know afe has their own tuner which is made by Superchips that is tuned specifically to use their intake and exhaust system, and extract the maximum power from them. So yes you would see better gains from running the tuner, but it will still work without it
