Default Rugged Ridge XHD bumpers=Rust!

After 1 year. This is how bad the rust is starting to come thru the powder coat. Now keep in mind, this jeep is stored inside and is just a daily driver. So disappointed .

That is BS they look like that after 1 year. However I am currently having good luck with Duplicolor Bedliner in a spray can for some of my metal parts. The finish matches the fenders and looks sharp. For prob less than $40 you could remove the bumpers and have then looking like new (or better!) w/ the Duplicolor stuff. Good luck.

Thanks the advise. Bad news I've emailed them 3 times and get no response. Even posted on their FB page and still nada. Guess service is not available. No more RR for me.

I've got the exact same bumpers and they are starting to rust a small ammount, which is BS. I guess I'll try the duplicolor liner, seems to be a good idea. Its not like I beat the bumper up or scratch them, so the rust seems to be coming from under the powder coat. Sorry to hear this is happening to you, I figure it's just the way of it with these bumpers. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

PS, their customer service is sh!t. I've tried the emailing route. Called them and got an answer about something else, but the part they sent me was still a POS. Try calling, maybe it'll help.

I spray mine with WD40 after I wash the Jeep... I had a brushguard (on an H1) look better than that after 7 years in New England and I beat the crap out of it. Tire shine may do the same, never tried, but I use a large can of WD40 on my Jeep every month, but I spray the under carriage also.

only had my XHD 4 months, but I have faith in WD40!

I think there coating has changed. My front is 3 years old, zero rust. I mean not a spec. rear is 3 months old. showed signs after 3 days. the coating feels and looks different from each other. The rear has a kind of sand paper finish, fronts more rubber texture. Both Rugged Ridge if not obvious.

I've had rust on mine as well. Only had the bumper for over a year. Jeep kept in a garage all the time but still patches of rust. Mostly near the area where the hoop meets the stubby.

Just use sandpaper and some textured black paint in a can. I use the AEV one and it looks brand new after I spray it down. Simple fix.

Hi. Where do you get the textured paint? Thanks

Default RR XHD aluminum system

Does anyone know why the aluminum XHD not so popular yet? There are a couple of online stores that carry it but not available on the major aftermarket vendors. The weight savings is huge! I would like to see a full end cap option added beside the stubby ends currently sold. I'm sure as soon as I get this system from Rugged Ridge, all of the other brands will have their alum. versions out, just my luck.
Any thoughts?
