Default Lift questions and no answers????

I'm Going to be buying a lift this week for my 08 jku but I have some questions and no answers. This is the lift I'm looking at buying Superlift 4" Lift Kit with Superride Shocks
For 07-11 Jeep® Wrangler Unlimited JK 4 Door
Quadratec Part No: 16207.021. My questions are: do I really need control arms to adjust the caster? What are the cam bolts for? Will I need drive shafts? Can I upgrade to long arms later and still reuse some of this lift? I am looking at this lift because I can run a 37" tire and it has adjustable front track bar. I don't have a pile of money to spent on a lift at this time but if you have a cheaper lift that you would recommend please do. Thanks TJ

In addition to allowing you to adjust caster, aftermarket control arms will be stronger than the stamped factory parts and will usually use a heim joint on one or both ends that will allow more flex than the factory rubber bushings.

I'm assuming the cam bolts are used in the control arm mounts to replicate adjustable arms. I think most suspension kits over 4" recommend upgraded driveshafts, but maybe the cam bolts offer enough adjustment to keep the driveshaft angles happy.

Converting to a long arm setup you will probably be able to reuse the springs & shocks, you'll just need the control arms and mounting brackets.

$700 is a great price for what looks like a decent kit w/ the ability to expand/upgrade later as $ allows. Hope I helped some, post up pics when you get everything put together.

I am no expert...but from everything I have read I would avoid Cam Bolts at all cost. You WILL need a from driveshaft over 3" of lift. As far as I know to get the proper caster you WILL need adj control arms.

You're going to get what you pay for...

If you want to run 37s wait and do it right. I know it is hard...but in the end you will be MUCH happier with your Jeep. Rock Krawler is legit stuff and they have entry level kits that are completely compatible with their higher end kits...so you won't have to re-buy a bunch of stuff. That's my .02!

After more reading I agree that I need adjustable control arms. With that said would you just buy a front set of arms for the superlift kit or buy a completely different lift? I went over and looked on teraflexs site and found this kit JK 4" Lift Kit
SKU: JK 4" Lift Kit. That's Still in my budget .
THANKS for the reply I'm just looking for some real world info. Seems my local shops just want to sell me a lift and don't care how it functions.

Your best bet is to call David at Northridge4x4. Tell him your budget, wants, and goals and he will steer you in the right direction. They sell only the best stuff, and are maybe one of the most legit businesses I have had the pleasure to deal with! Personal preference, but I would avoid Superlift if you can. Good luck man!

Did you have to change drive shafts?

You are fine with your drive shaft for the time being it really dependes on what kinda of wheeling you do and where your Castor is , if you are at full drop then it will rub and tear the plastic part on the shaft , so it's a time thing and what kinda of wheeling you do the most will effect how soon you you will replace it
