Default Teraflex 2.5" BB vs leveling kit | 33's daily driver

Hey all,

I've got a 2011 4-door sahara with 33" Duratracs. It's my daily driver and I only plan on doing light offroading (logging roads and trails to remote campsites). I don't plan on going bigger than 33's or getting a new bumpers or winch. I only plan on getting some rock rails/steps to replace the factory steps.

I'm debating on the leveling kit (2" spacer up front and 1" spacer in the back) or the 2.5" BB (2.5" spacer up front, 2" spacer in the back, shock extensions, rear track bar bracket and rear brake line extension).

Is it really worth it to get the BB for a little more lift? I mean, I like the kit because it's more complete obviously but will I need to worry about a front adjustable trackbar and alignment with this kit? Will the front axle be shifted or will the rear trackbar bracket take care of both the front/rear axles?

Or for what I really need, would a leveling kit be just fine - install it, get a little lift and leveled, no worries about trackbars or alignment?

Thanks!

I would go with the actual coil lift with shocks. One like my TF kit will came with the rear trackbar bracket. That's all you need. It will improve your on-road and off-road manners.

IMO there is no need for a front track bar replacement or rear for that matter. the only other thing you will want if you have not done it yet is to buy a ProCal. I am doing that today as I am running the same setup as you on a 2012 JKU with 3.21s. See below for my specs.

Yeah, I've already got a procal - use it for speedo recalibration, turning off tpms, and using my fogs as driving lights.

So with your 2.5" lift and rear trackbar relocation bracket you didn't notice a shift in your axles - rear or front? I'm concerned that it will be off either to the left or right and cause issues at highway speeds. I've got 18x9 with 4.5" backspace so my tires are already sicking out past the fenders, it would bother me visually if the front/back wheels were out opposite ways - and more so the drive-ablity.

I went with the leveling kit and shocks / springs from a rubi (went to 18/59 from the 17/58 I had). I netted about 3" from doing this and it was cheap and easy. I run 33's and they seem to 'fit' well. Here is a side by side I took with a stock version of the same jeep as mine...

I only noticed a slight (1/4-1/2) disparity by eyeballing it.

Its not an issue for me.

Based on your needs, I would say leveling kit. That's what I went with as well. It serves my needs just fine and when the time comes to go bigger (which we all know will happen), I can sell the leveling kit for over half the $120 I have in it. Plus, it only took 1.5 hours to install and that was taking my time.

now I'm leaning towards a leveling kit haha. I started off wanting a TF leveling kit, then a TF BB...now I think it's gonna be the leveling kit and money to spend on rock rails/side steps

Anyone have a side-by-side pic of a 4-door with 33's - leveling kit and 2.5" BB?

Somebody did a compare very similar to that a while back. It is somewhere in the Show & Tell forum.
