Stock Rubi sliders--good/bad?
How good is the stock Rubi rocker protection? Just about to go on my first JK wheeling day-trip ever, so I thought I'd ask.......Planning to start out pretty gentle, and work my way up.
Its better then nothing at all
When I took my Rubi our for the first time I was a little nerve racking ever time I heard a good scrape under me but soon you get to trust your skid plates and armor. Have fun out there!
Right, thanks thats about what I figured. My wheeling background is 5 years in a stock '98 Cherokee--The Rubi is a quantum step up for us. I doubt we'll break anything, but it never hurts to ask......

As I said in the tire pressure thread we seem to be conversing on as well, I just returned from the First Trip. Great time--sunny & warm, great wheeling, and I didn't need to rely on the rocker protection at all. I am glad, however, that she comes with good skidplates. Fetched one of them a good bang, but no issues. I have a pair of XRC sliders ready to install. Lots of steep, off-camber trails with big rocks here on the west coast meaning lots of opportunity to slide sideways into something nasty, so the XRCs are going on soon.....
They performed well for me at Moab EJS, Poison Spider and Porcupine Rim, had a few dings. However what I saw while down here is you not only need the sliders but rock guards. Did not receive any damage but can see where the extra protection would be a good idea. At the moment very stock Rubi, boy is this trip going to cost me.
X2. They are better than nothing. Remember that unlike previous wranglers the JK is not vertical on its sides. They bow out. You need deflection to protect this design and flush sliders will no protect you when your off camber and against a rock.

I just got a set from a guy who sold them to but the mopar enhanced. He said he liked them but wanted some with steps and got a good deal on them. Mine are scratched in several places but no bends or gouges.
