Default Barlow Jeep School

Anyone try the Barlow Jeep School in AZ? They have an Explorer course 4/21 for $139 that sounds interesting. It lasts 5-6 hours so around $25 an hour seems worth it to me. So far my skill level is basically hoping my brains will keep my balls from killing me.

I would love to hear if anyone has done it and if they got anything out of it.

You just described four-wheeling in a nutshell. Well said.

It seems to be a comprehensive base of what I would like to know. Don't get me wrong, I would love to go on the run you've guys have next weekend but logistically it just isn't working for me. Hopefully next time, I've been following the thread closely and you seem like a fun group.

I don't expect to take the class and know everything I need to know. I would really just be better at picking lines, knowing what I shouldn't be attempting with my current stock setup or if I'm just being a pussy and maybe how to be somewhat useful as a spotter.

I've got an amazing playground for 4wd less than a mile from my garage door but most of it involves cliffs and rock. Not very forgiving of newbie mistakes. I think this course and a descent set of tires would go a long way for my confidence and maybe help me to better grasp someones technique when I see it.

Then again it could be cheesy crap but that's what I'd like to know.

I'm pretty new to offroading also. Find a group and go on an easy trail that has easy and hard lines and work your way up. Have more experienced jeepers spot you if need be. I've learned the most by trying and choosing the wrong line. If you get stuck then you also learn your lesson in recoveries

I agree with the others. Start a thread for a run on the forum and you'll get first hand experience and help from some great people.. If you have a question, start a thread. I've found that the best place to learn is on the trail with other Jeep enthusiast, but that's just me.

I'm trying to get some guys out but I've been through this before with motorcycles. Vegas can be a tough place to organize people. Everyone has different days off and different shifts. I'll hit up the staging area again but it's pretty barren for our state. Maybe if you guys started posting and faked like you were from the silver state other people would start hanging out?

Sounds like time for a vacation to SoCal! We are always hitting the trails.

You will not be sorry you took the Barlow Jeep School training. My wife did a half day and I rode along -we both learned a bunch!

Highly recommended!
