Default 2 Or Fab Tire Questions

Sorry if this is confusing, my friend is installing my tire carrier, non-Jerry) while I work my 10th day in a row and he's more than capable, being a master mechanic for decades and having a Jeep of his own. According to him...

1. I only receive one piece of the 3m material to put on the body to limit dents or contact w the body. Should I have received two?
2. He also stated that it appears the carrier will leave dimples in the tailgate when it opens, But won't be noticeable. Anything to combat this?

Also, even for a guy with a lot of experience he said it is a huge PITA, especially with only one person. Just very time consuming.

Should only receive one, I did anyway
and it goes on the bottom. I have the tiniest of indents where the top bumper hits the tailgate, not noticeable unless you're really looking for it. I did the install myself, was a pain to get the carrier on and shimmed but it can be done.

I just took a belt sander to the part that contacts the lower portion of the tailgate to make it flat. It helps, but I still have a small dimple. Doesn't bother me.

Ok, thanks guys. So the 3M material only goes on the bottom correct? I'm not too worried about it either, just didn't know it was going to occur. Any one have any ideas to combat this completely??

You can shave down some of the rubber ends like the previous stated but there's probably not much else. If you want the carrier to stay rattle free, it needs to be tight against the tailgate...the thin sheet metal tailgate. Again, these are not huge indents.

No dimpling but yes the install can be a PITA! As for the mounting plate, you only get one. I personally couldn't handle the polished square or the raw metal wheel plate so I sprayed mine with rustoleum bed liner. I also scuffed down the TeraFlex CB mount and key mechanism and sprayed those both to match as well. As for the 3rd light, I cut the wire and tucked in tailgate then got the caps from Ace Hardware (53 cents a piece) to cover where the 3rd brake light wire came through and for where the factory bumpstops were. Last but not least, I drilled a small hole in the cap where the CB cable comes through so it fit snug and looks tits. (yes OR-FAB makes the tramp stamp)

You shouldnt have those dimples!

The bottom mount is adjustable (plus you need to sand down rubber stop so it touches tailgate not pushes it!)

The top rubber mount you should pull out and cut down the length then spray
like wd40 or something to help you twist in more or use rubber mallet and
knock it in. (That should only be touching not pushing) BTW~ my top one
doesn't even touch.

**It's ok if it has a little pressure when closed, but dimpling means that the rubber is sticking out to far and needs to be sanded down or twisted in more**
