Default Lift kits & and tires!! Need help

I have a 2008 unlimited JK. 3.8L V6. I would like to install a 4" lift with 35's. After doing these mods will I have to do any other things like change gears, or something like that? Will I loose MPG? If so how much? Would you recommend going with 33's instead? This is for looks more than anything else. Pics would be great if anyone has a similar set up and any feed back is appreciated.

Chris.

Here's my Jeep 3" teraflex lift with 35's 17 inch aev punter wheels. I think I might could have gone with 37's but will wait till I regear later on.

Like Bimmer335 above, I have a 4" lift and 35" tires. Mine is a 2011 JKUR 6 speed manual so it's mated to the old 3.8l engine. I have Banks cold air intake and catback exhaust. Having these items helps make the response snappy but I definitely notice a difference in performance since the tires. I have to drop a gear or two on the highway when I need to get up that hill or pass someone. I didn't need to do that before. Since its a 2011 I'm SOL on any sort of chip tuning. I'm thinking of going to next taller gear, maybe 4:88 to get some of that lost power back on the highway. Yes right now the RPMs are lower than stock but I have to put my right foot more into it, so I can imagine the mpg is worse. We use L/100Km in my neck of the woods but the end result is the same: more gas.

Auto or manual ? I would count on a 3MPG drop or more with 35s. Regearing will be helpful if you you have auto tranny. 35s are a little easier to live with if you are manual tranny. Things start to get Real expensive once you go past 3inch lifts.

I had a 4.5 inch lift with 35s and a 6 speed. Around town mpg was about the same but on the highway I lost 2 mpg. I went with the 4.5 because I knew I was going to 37s which I have now but I had to re gear also.

I think I will keep mine to 3" or 2.5" (Rock Krawler or Teraflex probably). I may just start with 33/34 and upgrade to a Long Arm down the road when I see what I truly enjoy doing. This has nothing to do with looks but purely for function.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. Mine is an auto. Does anyone have some pics with 33's on? If so, let me see and state your lift size. Also can anyone spare $2500 so I could do the lift and tires? Lmao!
