Default Clicking in steering wheel

Here we go, more strange things to add to the list of troubleshooting...

So when I hit a bump driving slow and mostly when turning in either direction, my steering wheel clicks around like it's loose. When driving straight nothing at all and when parked, the wheel is as solid as can be.

Ideas?

Is it in the steering wheel or is it coming thru the steering wheel? It might be the half shaft in the engine compartment.

Fought mine for a few weeks. Had dealer replace intermediate shaft. Later the entire steering column. My brother in law took it for a drive (engineer for Chrysler ) and noticed the horn cover. Yes I said cover was bouncing. I could feel it in the steering wheel just like an intermediate shaft. Dealer put foam under it and it has been great ever since.

Clock spring behind air bag will also cause this noise. It powers the airbag and horn while turning the wheel. There is not a wire that tangles while turning.

Ok thanks so I have a couple of things to look into... Wonder if the dealership is going to blame the lift for anything ...

Search clunky steering or knock. People have had their steering shaft replaced only for the problem to come back again. I went with the 5th wheeler grease option. Poke a tiny hole in the boot and fill it with grease using a needle fitting.

Thanks for the tip... I'll continue my research... mine absolutely sounds like it just needs some grease. It doesn't have the problem with the clock spring others have talked about (horn works fine and no airbag light). Also the noise in my Jeep's steering wheel comes and goes. I was going to have the dealership look at it this morning and when I got in to go it was turning fine with no noise.
