rough country quality sux
All I have had my great rough country winch for about a year now and used it for the first time last year at a jeep jamboree only to have the screw that holds the cable on fall off and start to unspool the cable backwards. In the middle of a costly trip this was not nice. So I fix that.
Yesterday for the second time I go to use the winch and now it will only spool out and not spool back in. Seriously. Dissappointed the only two times I have ever tried to use this winch it was fails both time.
I also had thier 2.5" lift such after less than a year of having it on the jeep it was only sitting as high as a stock rubicon.
Bottom line I already replaced the lift but now I need to replace a winch anyone know of a good one for one and for two I would strongly advise anyone from buying rough country thier quality is extremely spotty at best.

You get what you pay for...there's a reason why they're stuff is inexpensive. Def sucks the winch failed on you. Why not look into Warn, the VR series aren't too much and good for the occasional wincher and you can get them with synth rope. Engo have also gotten great reviews, Smitty and RR seem to get mixed reviews.
x2 the warn vr. great bang for the buck. personally i'm a superwinch guy, but at $500 that warn vr cannot be beat. Quadratec is pushing their winches hard, I'd definitely consider them, as their service is superb.
