Default Full overhaul for 5.13's ???????

Ok, I have an 09 unlimited with 46k miles and i'm getting 37's with a 4inch lift this week. I want to do the gears myself with a mechanic family member of mine to save some $$$, 4wp quoted me $1300...so...can i just do the gears or do i have to do the more complicated full overhaul with the berings etc.

Since you are going through all the trouble of setting new gears I would at least install new bearings.

Yes, any quality auto parts store will stock them. The overhaul kits are nice because they come with different shims for a precise fit and sometimes ring bolts. It may be worth the investment to ensure a quality install.

It is certainly an option to just throw the old bearings and shims in if you take them out without damage. You have enough miles on the old bearings that if it were me I would get the overhaul kit and have piece of mind that you have new parts all around for a precision installation.

I'm on my mobile. If you search for "gearing" under the write up section there is a great overview and step by step of the install.

With that many miles, I would do full install kits
