Default Spills

This was brought up in another site and I was curious
as to if anyone carries a spill kit when offroading and if so what
make and why?
Thanks.

I bought this stuff from work I use in the garage and take wheeling just in case of a break, its called spill magic.

Works on everything, oil, detergent, water, coolant, whatever. Let it sit, mix it in, sweep it up. Literally no spill out runs this stuff, its like blue sawdust.

There are a ton of other products like it, but I use it all the time at work and got it cheap.

I don't normally carry one but when we are down in Moab for the Jeep Safari as trail helpers we carry a spill kit.

Kitty litter in the garage. On the trail, a shovel and trash bags. If I have a spill, I dig up the contaminated ground and some around it, put it in a trash bag, and pack it out so that I can turn it in later on. That's also what we did on our tanks, except an M1 has a whole lot more hazardous fluids to spill than a Jeep and ususally requires more than one shovel and trash bag. I pack out my trash, so there is no sense in leaving contaminated soil behind and destroying the envrionment more than I have to.

That's what we do on HazMat scenes. Kitty litter for gasoline, diesel, antifreeze, and oil on street surfaces. Off the roadway we dig up the dirt until you don't see and wet earth, then dig about 6-8 inches further, put it in a drum and give to a disposal company. Kitty litter is awesome!
