Yukon Gear Install Issue - HELP!!
I bought 35's for my new JK and wanted to regear. I bought Yukon front and rear gears - 4.88 (non rubicon). I have a good friend that works as a service manager at a well respected Chrysler dealership that is hooking me up and having his techs do everything at cost. (very lucky). The tech installing the gears had no issue installing the rear but is having problems installing the front. I am not an expert on gears by any means but here is what the tech communicated to me....
"The timing is off on the front. I checked out the website and all the parts are correct. The backlash was 8- thousandths and the gear pattern is barely touching the ring gear. He added a 20 thousandths shim in and didn't change a thing"
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

I am no mechanic, so my guess is have you checked the carrier in the front? On the D30s when you are changing gears, depending on what gear you are moving from/to you may need a new carrier, where the same does not apply to the rear 44
X2 with Dave. What was the original gears in your JKU? I was always told that if you had 3.73 gears or lower(numerically higher) in your Dana 30 you could reuse the carrier. If you had the 3.21 gears you need to change the carrier.
Wish I would have known a carrier would have been needed before they started working on it... thought (told) I had everything. Where can I pick up this peice ASAP? I live in MIchigan and would be willing to drive to pick it up. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
