Last time buying anything rugged ridge!
I HAVE A RUGGED RIDGE FRONT STUBBY BUMPER, RUGGED RIDGE STINGER ATTACHMENT, AND RUGGED RIDGE REAR LIGHT GUARDS...... WHILE CLEANING THE JK YESTERDAY, NOTICED THAT I HAVE TO SAND BLAST AND RE-PAINT MY RR LIGHT GUARDS BECAUSE ALL THE PAINT IS BUBBLED UP AND FLAKING OFF OF IT..... SAME THE WITH THE BUMPER AND STINGER, ESPECIALLY TE BOTTOM OF THE STINGER!!!! ITS REALLY BAD, GUARENTEE THE STINGER WOULD FAIL IF IT GOT USED FOR WHAT ITS INTENDED TO! ANYONE ELSE HAVE THIS ISSUE???

Its how they powdercoat it. I don't think its just Rugged Ridge.....what I do know is my Smittybilt XRC rock sliders have taken a beating the powder coating process they use is awesome.......I am freaking impressed! Others should learn and use the same process
I've got the XHD and have given it a few hard hits and have yet to do any touch up. You might have just got a bad batch, have you called them and asked about it? I agree it would suck having to sand and repaint it, but it's nothing to blow up over.

I personally have never seen any aftermarket steel item that had a quality finish. They all rust and peel after a few winters of salt. Powder coat is no better than paint either. I will probably go with aluminum bumper for this reason.
Rust-Oleum bedliner is your bumper's best friend. Used it on my Rock Hard stubby the day I got it. The powder coat finish looked faded and too flat. This stuff holds up great and lays on nice. I've spray painted for many years and the finish you get is hard to believe it came out of a rattle can. Ended up removing the door hinges and spraying them also.
