Expedition One rear Bumper w/ Hi-Lift mounted diagonally……photos
Any other Exp One owners annoyed at choice of Hi-Lift ?
Expedition One make a tough rear bumper, and I’ve been running with their Hi-Lift bracket that mounts it horizontally at face/shoulder height, so when opening the rear gate too quickly, you get good smack ! To get it up and away I repositioned their bracket to instead mount the Hi-Lift diagonally.
The Hi-Lift easily fits in the gap behind the spare tire, it's simple to drill three new holes in the Exp One bracket and use new bolts to mount the bracket in two of the existing carrier arm holes, and drill a new hole for the lower bolt.
It’s now the ideal set-up for me -- I didn’t want the Hi-Lift mounted vertically as I have garage height issues, and didn’t want Hi-Lift inside to save cargo space. I have the longer 60” Hi-Lift, and cut 7 inches off it to lessen the overall height.

with gate open, here’s the Exp One bracket bolted in three places to the arm
