I just ordered an ace engineering stubby and rear bumper combo. Great price too!

I unfortunately don't have them yet so I can't supply pics... but they do have plenty of pics of them on the web.

This is my Rockhard 4x4.....I can't say I would recommend it. I like the fact that is completely made in the US, including steel sources, but I do not like the locking mechanism. Ive had to modify my modification.

what info are you specifically looking for about each bumper?
  • Most are made form 3/16 or 1/4 steel... some are available in aluminum to cut down weight but this usually costs more.
  • Each bumper has different locking mechanisms, some don't have locking mechanisms and attach to the tailgate so you don't have to deal with two hing openings to get into your cargo area.
  • Each carrier has different limitations on tire size.
  • Some include ways to handle the 3rd light location, most don't.
  • Some include towing ability, some don't. Some that tow don't have a tow rating associated with them.
  • And then their is the good old made in the USA factor for some bumpers as well.

The ace engineering bumpers I chose to buy are 1/4 steel. No locking mechanism, it attaches to the tailgate and supports the weight of the tire on the bumper. I believe it will support up to a 38" tire but not sure... and I also don't know or care about the 3rd light as I'll figure that out... it is made in the USA.

As far as recommending the bumper... like I said in my last post, I have not received it yet so can't make a recommendation just yet.
