Got excessive driveline lash?? maybe not!
So I will throw myself under the bus here...For about 2 months I've been kind of concerned with the amount of lash I was getting in my manual Rubi when letting off and getting on the gas. Most of my manual vehicles had a little play, but not like this. It was an audible thump that you could feel. It was too the point that I was ready to blame the shop that did my regear, even though when twisting the driveshaft by hand it didn't seem like the play was that bad.....because it wasn't lol.
What tipped me off is that I started getting a squeak from the bushing in my left rear lower control arm. Finally checked it out, and it turns out both sides were loose enough to turn the bolts by hand. Just the fact that the bolts were slightly corroded kept the nuts from spinning all the way off. The whole axle shifting in the lower mounts is what I was feeling when letting off and getting on the gas--tightened them up, and the "driveline lash" is completely gone. Not sure if they loosened them at the shop, but shame on me for not checking them more regularly. Got lash? Check your arms--maybe you really don't! Lol
