another tire/wheel fit question
I am going to put one of the following combinations on a 2012 Rubicon, everything stock except the following.
- 285/70 R17 (32.8 “H x 11.5”W) on 17 x 9 alloys with 4.5” backspace or
- 285/75 R16 (33”H x 11.3”W) on 16 x 8 alloys with 4” backspace
I have a number of questions for off-loading and general use:
1. Which combo is better? I am leaning towards the 16s simply because I have read the smaller diameter wheels are better for off-roading
2. Is there a way to figure out how far the wheel/tire combos will stick out or is it just trial and error? I am a little worried about buying a set and being unhappy with how they look after installation.
3. Will they rub either on width or height when sway bar is connected or disconnected?
4. Do I need a lift kit? If so, what is the minimum lift I can get away with?
Help with any of the questions would be appreciated.
