Default New to the Forum. Suspension ideas??

Hey guys and gals. I just ordered a 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4dr. I have a few weeks before it gets in and am looking around for a nice lift kit. I was thinking around a 4''-4.5'' lift. I have looked at Zone off road (because of price), BDS, Teraflex and Tough Country. I am planning on going with 35s mud grapplers or toyo open countries on stock 17s because it only has 373 gears. If anybody can tell me their experiences with any of the above listed items i would be very appreciative. BTW its Stone White Sport S. Loaded out except for leather and navigation. Thanks in advance.

You can easily clear 35's with a 2.5-3 inch lift, not real need to go over 4. I can only speak for Teraflex, they make great products and customer service is top notch.

Since you have time, look through the Show Your 35's thread in the Show & Tell section to get some ideas.

Type in any of the companies you listed in the search box and you will get lots of info on them.

This is actually really good advice because it gives you a chance to see some of the large lifts with "smaller" tires. You might notice that a 4.5 inch lift looks really tall on 35's. If you are set on the 35's I would probably stick to a 2-3 inch lift. I'm even running 37's on my 3 inch lift and there is plenty of room (granted--the fenders probably help with this).

I think people new to JK's dont realize exactly how big a 4 inch lift is. I get stopped all the time and people ask me whooaaa how tall is that lift and im like 2.5 and they dont beleive me, they think its about 4-5 inches. I couldnt imagine actually driving something double in lift.

The wheel wells on the JKs are very big and you don't need as much lift to fit larger tires as you would on older models or other rigs. 2.5"-3" of actual lift will do it. The quality lifts tend to undersell their ligft heights. For example a TF 2.5" lift will net you 3" and a 3" lift will net you 4.25" on average.

I second what they all said...also, take a look at Rock Krawler...their 3.5" Max Travel system is a super complete lift and you could easily clear 37s if you wanted. I have had great results with this lift just keep in mind that a new front drive shaft is in your near future. Don't forget to buy the AEV ProCal!

Hahah very true. I had a guy in a Cherokee say the same thing to me not too long ago while I was still running my 32's (prior to the upgrade in tire size). He said something to the effect of "Jesus, that thing is giant, what size lift is that?" He was shocked when I told him it was just a 3 inch lift. He was running a 6 inch lift on his Cherokee and it looked so much smaller in comparison.
