Default Wheeling with 37's amd 4.10s

So I have read a lot on 37's with 4.10 gears and how they suck on the highway, but I'm not too concerned about that. It is not my daily driver, just my toy. I don't care about mpg or if I can maintain 70 mph. However, I do live high in the mountains (Durango) and wheel alot in the high country around Silverton-Ouray-Telluride, where there is a lot of climbing. I also make it out to Moab frequently.

Ignoring highway driving, would I still be able to wheel? 4low is pretty low, but I want to make sure I will still have enough power to climb. I have a manual, not auto.

Thanks

I run 37 toyos and 4:10 for the last two years. You perhaps have to clutch it a bit more offroad on steep rock climbs but doesnt bother me enough to regear at this time. Run the 4:10's and if you find it to be a problem then regear

I've got 35's and 3.73 (so maybe a good comparisson?). Agree with everyone else - on road I notice it. 4Low, just a little more spinning and gas to clean mud, and "torqued" rock climbing (Brake + Gas, and acellerate by easing up on the brakes). Programming has helped a bunch on the street - Tow Tune (superchips) and tranny shiftpoint raised - to the point that I'm getting close to the awfull stock MPG's. Crawl Tune while off road is really great. Some day I'll regear, but not a priority as of now.

I drove pjohn's jeep yesterday I liked it. it handled 4.10 with 37 and pentastar well..The shift points for me were a lot more comfortable than stock. I didnt get to wheel it but he said it needs gas to maintain from stalling on some rocks when in four low

I run 4.10's and 37" KM2's, with the 3.8. I do not see what the big deal is. In 4lo there is plenty power to climb anything in my way. I do a good deal of highway driving, pull a double atv trailer in the mountains, and sometimes a popup full of gear. I usually average 18mpg empty and 16 with either trailer. 3rd and 4th gear get used a lot in the mountains.

Keep your $ wheel wwhat you have and like others stated if it is not acceptable to you, then regear!

Best of Luck and have Fun!
